DIGIPIN is India’s geo-coded digital address system, developed by the Department of Posts (India Post) in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad, NRSC, and ISRO. It divides the entire country (including maritime zones in India’s EEZ) into a hierarchical grid of cells, each about 4 metres wide.
Every cell receives a unique 10-character code using 16 symbols (digits 2 through 9 and letters C, F, J, K, L, M, P, T).
